New book group for boys starting soon! Let’s take advantage of the warmer weather with monthly meetings outside to talk about books. An experienced teacher will facilitate the group and assist with book selection and all boys must have an adult guardian present, but this will really be an opportunity for boys in 4th and 5th grade to get together to share books and life with each other. We are open to different formats to fit the group’s interests. Participants will either all select, read, and discuss the same book each month or share their individual reading with others in the form of a booktalk and discussion. Whichever format the group chooses, we hope to encourage free-flowing discussion of books and anything else that comes up. Our hope is to keep this book group at a low cost (even free with the use of library books), so that it is really about the books and the boys, with no extras. Because we will meet outdoors, participants may want to have sunscreen, a towel or cloth to sit on, water, and perhaps a snack, in addition to their books, of course.
